Vimeo's being annoying... apparently, I have to wait "in line". The link below should work.

  1. The delivery of your vlog was excellent - I was reading off of a script so my vlog doesn't sound as natural as yours. The background for your animation looks great, and I'm looking forward to see the final video!

  2. Hi Jason, your vlog was awesome! Great job making it sound as if you were having a conversation with the viewers. I like how you showed the small details in your project, such as showing how you colored in the tree. It really gave me an idea of how much work and effort goes into a project like this. I can't wait to see your final product, and I'm sure it will be amazing.

  3. Your project looks awesome! I remember making a stop motion animation in sixth grade. However your planning and detail far surpasses what my sixth grade self had done. I really liked how clearly you spoke and the detail of your explanations. Quick question how did you decide to use paper as your medium for stop motion?

    1. That's a great question, Jay. I've always loved drawing, and I find that it's a great tool to convey basic thoughts (or sometimes profound thoughts if I can manage to come up with them). Despite the fact that I have some skill in the fine arts, I am by no means a sculptor. So, a claymation was out of the question. I was considering Legos as an option, but I didn't have enough to build a really large-scale animation (and the hot-air balloon wouldn't float quite as easily). Drawing (with a pencil on paper... I can't go into much detail on a white board, which many people seem to be fine with) was still within my comfort zone, and I wanted to take it a few steps further.

I realize now you might also be asking about computer graphics. I've tried, and I've failed... quite miserably. Maybe I just need a larger span of time to experiment on my own.

  4. Great vlog, Jason!
I liked the preview to the end product. I remember you told me the plot a couple of days ago, and I am very excited to see the end product.
We talked about the frames per second beforehand as well, but I was curious about how long it takes to record a frame. If I remember, you were originally going for 20 fps but have recently dropped to 10, as a result of the huge amount of time it takes to complete this.
Thanks, I cannot wait to see your final product.
